A BIG crowd converged at the Finn Valley Athletic Club last night to honour the six athletes from the club who were in international action over the last month.
It was another proud night on Stranorlar’s Millbrae as the locals welcomed home their young heroes.
Pride of place went to Sommer Lecky, the 15-year-old from Castlederg who won a bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi.
Arlene Crossan came ninth in the long jump final in Tbilisi, while Aaron McGlynn came seventh in the boy’s 800m final, competing in sweltering 41 degree heat. McGlynn couldn’t be present at the homecoming due to other commitments.
Also honoured were shot putter James Kelly and sprinter Janine Boyle following their exploits at the Celtic Games in Scotland.
Kelly won gold in the under-16 shot putt while Boyle took bronze in the under-18 100m sprint.
