DONEGAL’S rising unbeaten middleweight boxing star Jason Quigley was a guest at a welcome party for the Irish Special Olympics team in California on Thursday.
Quigley (7-0) was joined by fellow boxing star, the 14-0 Julian Ramirez, who is also a part of the Golden Boy stable.
Each team is assigned to a host town and Team Ireland have been placed with the city of Downey in southeast Los Angeles.
The Games opening ceremony took place on Saturday and the Games run until August 2.
Donegal is represented by Patrick Quinlivan (gymnastics) and Oliver Doherty (golf).
“Team Ireland where an absolute blast to hang out with,” said Rachel Charles of Sheer Sports Management.
“There were a few folks from Donegal there too.
“Everyone was amazing. Jason and Julian did what they do best and we came away with even more admiration and respect for the athletes of Special Olympics.”
