LETTERKENNY GAELS GAA CLUB held their Annual Presentation Function in Arena 7 on Tuesday night.Charlie Cannon reflected on the past season for the Minor and Under 21 Teams, Pat Doherty acknowledged the competitive spirit of the Reserves and Sean McBrearty, Senior Team Manager gave his usual comprehensive address on the Seniors’ campaign.
The team managers thanked Brendan O’Brien, club captain and all the players for their continued dedication and commitment to the Club and announced several awards which were presented by Club Chairperson, Dan Harnett.
Special thanks were conveyed to Pat Doherty and John McGilloway, Reserve team managers and Minor and Under 21 team manager, Charlie Cannon, assisted by James Gordon and Pat Doherty who have all stood down from their positions. Tributes were also paid to Sean McBrearty and his assistant, John McDermott who are continuing to lead the Seniors into 2016 and the contributions of their support team were also acknowledged.
Presentations were made to the following players: Senior Players of the Year – Darren Hunter and Kevin Kilkenny; Reserve Player of the Year – Bobby Carey; Most Improved Player of the Year – Sean McDonagh; Under 21 Player of the Year – Conor McBrearty; Minor Players of the Year – Shane Graham and Cormac Cannon
Club Secretary and MC, Jim McGlynn thanked all the Team Managements and players and also acknowledged the significant contributions and examples of GAA volunteerism given by several Club Officers and Members, including our Oifigeach Gaeilge agus Cultúir, Bairbre Cahill, PRO, Mark McFadden and Paddy O’Connor, who produced and directed the staging of the Sam Cree Play, Widows’ Paradise in our Club Room, with the support of LRFC.
Following a summation of his contributions to our Club in his various capacities over the years, all given with the same passion and dedication since his election as our founder Chairperson in 1996, James Frain was acclaimed as the Club Person of the Year for 2015.
