PROFESSIONAL POOL PLAYER and double World Champion Jason Twist performed an exhibition of unparalleled quality in Ownie’s Bar, Dungloe.
In front of a packed arena, Jason showcased his talents against players from across the county, some of whom only got a break-off shot in their two frames.
Young Keelan McMonagle from Fintown was given the onerous task of playing first but acquitted himself very well and was unlucky not to take the first frame. A host of local and county players also tried their luck, with Patrick Duffy and Helena Sharkey, both from Dungloe, putting in the night’s best performances.
The showcase match, though, pitted Dungloe’s young Irish International, Shaun Sharkey, against Jason. There were no flamboyant exhibition style shots here as it was pure matchplay between two very talented players. Shaun, roared on by a partisan home crowd, prevailed on a 3-2 scoreline in a thrilling match played to an extremely high standard.
The staff of Ownie’s put in a massive effort to organise the event which was a fundraiser for the Donegal county pool teams. An array of fantastic prizes were gathered from very generous sponsors and a massive €2,040 was raised through the event.
This money will be used for accommodation and travelling expenses for the county teams and Donegal Pool Association are deeply indebted to Ownie’s for their efforts.
