FORMER MANCHESTER UNITED youth Ryan McConnell has signed on at Finn Harps for the 2016 season, while club captain Kevin McHugh has agreed to play on for another year.
The 20-year-old centre-back spent three years at Old Trafford and had signed a professional contract in 2014.
In June, he was released by United and has been without a club since.
McConnell, from Oldtown in Letterkenny, is a Republic of Ireland Under-19 international.
A former Letterkenny Rovers player, he won a clean sweep of titles with Rovers’ Under-16s and also won the Donegal Youth League title with the Leckview Park club.
McConnell is one of five players to be signed by manager Ollie Horgan, who has begun assembling his Premier Division jigsaw.
Veteran striker and captain McHugh had intimated that 2015 would be his final year in a Harps shirt.
However, the promotion-winning campaign has tempted the Killea man to staying on for another term at Finn Park.
Ciaran Coll, Tony McNamee and Gareth Harkin have also put pen to paper for next season.
