FORMER KILCAR PLAYER BARRY DOHERTY has been confirmed as the new manager of the Na Rossa senior football team.
Doherty played for the Kilcar seniors until 2014 and has now been handed his first managerial post.
The 33-year-old takes over at Dooey from Damian Devaney, who will take charge of Sean MacCumhaills in 2016.
Doherty has a business in neighbouring Dungloe and his wife, Martine, is the principal of Meenagowan NS in Lettermacaward.
Doherty (left) was ratified as manager by the Na Rossa executive and his backroom team has yet to be identified.
In 2016, Na Rossa finished (pictured above) sixth in Division 4 and were only three points off third place, while they were beaten by eventual champions Naomh Ultan in the Junior A Football Championship semi-final.
