A former Finn Harps player is making the move to sign for RWD Molenbeek in Belgium.
Darren Meenan, who played for Harps under Anthony Gorman’s management in 2006, is to sign for the Brussles-based club today.
Meenan was recently let go by Shamrock Rovers and the well-traveled 31-year-old is set to pitch up at RWDM, who are currently at the top of the fourth division in Belgium.
As well as his time at Harps, Meenan has also played for Monaghan United, ICF, Shelbourne, Sligo Rovers, Drogheda United, St Patrick’s Athletic and Dundalk.
A League title winner at Dundalk, the Dubliner was plucked from St Joseph’s Boys by Gorman to sign at Harps.
“Financially it’s very good,” Meenan told the Irish Daily Mirror.
“I’ve two kids and a house to support. I met Irish clubs but financially it wasn’t worth it as you’d need a job to go with it.
