Finn Harps 2-0 Drogheda United
Simon McGlynn (pictured above by Stephen Doherty) scored in the opening minutes and a Declan Sharkey goal midway through the second half guaranteed them all thee points and keeps the Ballybofey outfit top of the table with three games remaining.
Like their senior team the previous night, they got off to the best possible start when in the second minute of the game McGlynn fired home past Drogheda netminder Dylan Sweeney after a run with the ball from inside his own half.
Harps were giving a great chance to extend their lead in the 62nd minute when referee Vincent McLoughlin awarded a spot kick after Luke Nelis was tripped inside the box, but midfielder Gareth Doherty’s penalty was well saved by Sweeney.
BJ Banda who came on as a substitute the previous night for the senior team against UCD was introduced shortly after for the injured Darragh Black and it was Banda who set up the all important second goal when he found Sharkey free 10 yards out and he made no mistake with a fine strike past Sweeney.
