Finn Harps are sweating on the fitness of Ciaran O’Connor and Danny Morrissey after both limped out of last night’s loss to Shamrock Rovers.
O’Connor, on loan from League champions Dundalk, has netted four goals already this season, but had to come off after just 24 minutes in Tallaght.
Morrissey, a close-season capture from Cork City, also had to be withdrawn in the second half and both will be assessed further today.
“Both have hamstring injuries,” Horgan confirmed.
“It’s a little bit historical with Danny. In the short-term, they’re out and we just hope that it won’t be long term.
“We picked up a couple of serious injuries. That’s as disappointing as not getting a point out of the game.”
Caolan McAleer and Paddy McCourt dragged Harps back from the edge of the cliff with a brace of goals in the second half, after David McAlister and Ronan Finn fired Rovers 2-0 up.
But Madden popped up right at the end to pull the rug from beneath Harps’ feet.
Horgan said: “We might have been better getting a hammering and not getting two players with serious injuries. It’s a big cost to pay.
“It’ll be a test of the squad, but they’re a good bunch and there’ll be lads who’ll step up to the mark.”
Harps were unbeaten in four games going into last night’s fixture and Horgan cut a frustrated figure in the bowels of the impressive Tallaght Stadium.
He said: “It’s tough to take with the second half that we had.
“We looked sharp, we looked full of energy, but in saying that we could have been three down.”
Horgan can be expected to ring the changes on Monday night when Harps host the Ulster Senior League champions, Cockhill Celtic, at Finn Park in the EA Sports Cup.
