Finn Harps are still playing a waiting game for Pascal Millien to get a work permit that will enable him to line out for the club.
Millien signed for Harps in mid-March, but the relevant paperwork has not yet been processed.
Millien spent two seasons at Sligo Rovers in 2012 and 2013, winning the League title and an FAI Cup during his time at The Showgrounds.
His most recent club was Fort Lauderdale Strikers in Florida and the Haiti international’s capture came as a surprise.
Harps boss Ollie Horgan is hopeful that Millien, signed a month ago, will get the green light by the end of April.
“It takes its time,” Horgan said.
“We have done all we can from our side. It’s just a matter of waiting on the work permit to be granted. Please God, we can get him in in a week or two.
“The committee are dealing with it. We’re trying to enquire where it is at the moment, but there is a waiting list and it is basically out of our hands.”
The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation advice that applications for employment visas can take up to eight weeks to process.
Harps, following Friday night’s 2-0 loss to Dundalk in Ballybofey, go to Buncrana next week to face Derry City at Maginn Park in their first derby with the Candystripes this season.
Harps will be without Ciaran O’Connor and Danny Morrissey, both due to hamstring injuries sustained last week against Shamrock Rovers.
Horgan said: “They go from one tough game to a tougher one. It’ll be hugely difficult, but we’ll dust ourselves down and get back at it.”
