RAPHOE Hockey Club’s youths got opposition from another Donegal team for the first time yesterday.
Scoil Mhuire from Caiseal in Fanad travelled to Raphoe for a blitz against the Raphoe club’s 10-12 year-olds.
Seventeen children from the Fanad school, accompanied by their school principal and Raphoe Hockey Club’s Louise Moran, made the trip.
For the last eight weeks, Louise has been coaching the kids in the art of hockey and it culminated in a little slice of history with Raphoe playing a game against a fellow Donegal side for the first time ever.
The Raphoe club said: “It was amazing to see how far only 8 weeks of hockey coaching has got them. Raphoe kids all preformed brilliantly considering they have only had 5 weeks of hockey since March 2020!”
The club thanked Sarah Boal, Abbie McKnight and Sarah Lindsay for assisting.
