THE FAMILY of a Donegal man reported as missing in Paris yesterday have launched a social media campaign in a bid to track down their brother.
Lee McLaughlin, a 19-year-old from Gleneely on the Inishowen peninsula, attended the Republic of Ireland’s 1-1 draw with Sweden in Euro 2016 on Monday night in the Stade de France.
Lee traveled to France with his father and cousin, but has not been seen since midday yesterday, Tuesday, when he was spotted leaving the Hotel Ibis, Parish Montmarte.
Family members attempted to contact him by phone, but efforts proved unsuccessful and the phone is now off. Lee is believed to have left the hotel to buy a charger for his phone.
Yesterday evening, Lee was due to fly from Paris to London Luton Airport, but he did not check in or the flight.
Lee’s sister, Rosemarie, posted the following message on Facebook: “This is our brother Lee, he has been missing in Paris since this morning. He was last seen leaving Ibis Paris Montmartre at 12pm.
“He was not answering his phone and it is now off. This is very out of character for Lee. His flight home has already departed and he has not shown up to the airport. We are all very worried.
“Please please share my post and if anyone has seen him please contact any of his family ASAP.”
The Department of Foreign Affairs are providing consular assistance. A missing person report was made to the team of gardaí, including Superindendent Gerry Delmar, who are in Paris for the duration of the tournament.
