BRETT MCGINTY SAYS that the Irish team will have no stone unturned for the AIBA World Youth Championships in Russia later this month.
The St Johnston man leads a nine-strong Irish team to the Championships, which take place in St Petersburg from November 17-26.
The Oakleaf ABC welterweight and the Irish side fly out to Russia for a pre-Championship training camp in Moscow with boxers from Russia and Cuba, having just completed two training camps in Dublin and Belfast.
“Last year before the Commonwealth Games was the best preparation I’ve ever had for a competition. This time, it’s going to top it,” McGinty, pictured above with Donegal Boxing Board President Peter O’Donnell, says.

“It’ll be an uphill battle, but we’re ready for it.”
John Conlan and Billy McClean will be in the Irish corner in Russia. McGinty is a ??-time Irish champion, who won a European Schoolboy bronze medal in 2012 and a Commonwealth Youth Games silver in 2015.
