DONEGAL’S young cyclists had an excellent return from the Ulster Youth Championships in Omagh on Saturday.
In the Under-16 boys, Letterkenny native Conor Halvey was the winner of the 30-mile road race for the third year in succession, with the narrowest of winning margins in a dramatic finish ahead of Adam Ward, who had placed in third overall at the Errigal International Youth Tour earlier this month.
Halvey was also second in the time time trial, the first unplaced Under-15.

Shauna McFadden, also from Letterkenny, was the winner of the Under-16 girls road race and also picked up second place in the 3.2-mile time trail on a tricky uphill course.
She traded positions in both with Amanda Gallagher, a native of Dunlewey who now rides for Caldwell Cycles. She was first in the time trail and second in the road race.
Falcarragh’s Cora Harkin won road race and time trial in Under-14 girls, while Catherine Kelly, also Falcarragh, got second in time trial and third in road race in the Under-14 girls.
Newcomer Ciara Kelly from the North Pole Cycling Club, who are based in Aileach, had top six finished in both Under-14 girls events.
Odhran Dooan from Gortahork got third in time trial and won the road race in the Under-12 age group.
Adam McGeever from Gweedore, who is in the AAA club, won first Under-11 in both road race and time trial.
