DUNREE ADVANCED to the Fr O’Gara Cup final, and a meeting with Carn FC, after seeing off Redcastle in extra-time yesterday.
Dunree United 2 Redcastle United 1
After extra time
The visitors started this game the better and on 15 minutes Stephen McLaughlin collected a loose ball and fired first time low to the bottom corner from 15 yards past Philip Doherty.
Dunree replied and Daniel McLaughlin had an effort well gathered by Michael McCole before a Philip McGuinness cross into the box found Darryl Moran who fired wide when well placed.
Dunree got back on terms on 55 minutes when a Liam Baldrick free found Thomas Mulhern at the back post and he sidefooted home from close range.
Redcastle had a great chance on 68 minutes when Ryan Duffy fired over the bar from 15 yards.
On the stroke of full time a Liam Baldrick free went all the way across the face of goal but there were no takers and extra time ensued.
Dunree took the lead after five minutes of the first period when another Baldrick free kick found unmarked Ryan Bradley and he slotted home from eight yards.
Redcastle pushed everyone forward in the second period but the only real chance they had was a Martin Farren header which Philip Doherty gathered well and Dunree advance to a final showdown with Carn FC.
