DUNGLOE WON TWO hard-earned points in the AllSportStore.com All-County Football League at Glenswilly this evening.
Glenswilly 2-9 Dungloe 1-14
Tony Boyle’s visitors can look back at a profitable third quarter as the prime reason for their victory, when they turned a one-point interval deficit into a five-point lead.

The hosts did rally towards the finish and came back to just two points down on a couple of occasions but Dungloe saw it out to cap an entertaining encounter.
Ryan Greene scored a fantastic opening goal on nine minutes to put Dungloe into a 1-1 to 0-2 lead. On receipt of possession from a pass from Darren Curran, Greene, with his back to goal, swiveled and left three Glenswilly defenders in his wake before piercing a shot past James Gallagher.
Both teams then had goal chances. Dungloe goalkeeper Danny Rodgers made a fantastic save with his feet to keep Christopher McMonagle out and seconds later at the other end, Doalty Boyle’s diagonal ball into the Glenswilly square flew just inches side of Gallagher’s post.
Glenswilly kept chipping away and got back to 1-3 to 0-4 down when Ryan Diver pointed. They then forced their way in front on 18 minutes through a slightly fortuitous goal of their own.
Brian Farrelly lumped a sideline ball into the square but Dungloe goalkeeper Rodgers got caught under the dropping ball in the crowd and it bounced into the net. There were shades of Colm McFadden’s goal in the 2012 All-Ireland quarter-final win for Donegal over Kerry.
That goal gave Michael Canning’s team a lift and they added frees through Cathal Gallagher and Gary McFadden to move into a 1-6 to 1-3 lead. That advantage was shaved down to one at the break, though, as Rodgers found his range with two long-range frees. Glenswilly were 1-6 to 1-5 ahead at half-time.
Adrian Sweeney’s point for Dungloe after the restart brought Dungloe level but Glenswilly replied instantly when Darren McGinley shot over a point, 1-7 to 1-6.
That was the spell of the game where Dungloe started to move through the gears, as they hit six unanswered points – Noel McBride was pivotal in that period of the match, while Rodgers was again on the money from two further placed balls.
Hugh Moy and a free from Sweeney meant they away side had developed a 1-12 to 1-7 advantage.
[adrotate group=”70″]Rodgers made a fantastic point blank save to deny Cathal Gallagher after Gary McFadden hit the inside of the Dungloe post on 52 minutes.
Just two minutes later, Rodgers was unfortunate as his attempted block on a squared fist pass from Gallagher ended up in the Dungloe net. Technically an own goal.
That made the score 1-12 to 2-7 and when Ciaran Bonner pointed for Glenswilly it was a two-point game.
[adrotate group=”38″]Dungloe dug in and held out well. Danny Curran profited from a turnover to score when Joe Gibbons lost possession with Glenswilly streaking forward.
And although Gary McFadden pulled one more back for Glenswilly, Barry Curran’s score for Dungloe at the bitter end sealed a two-point win and two points on the table for the team from Rosses Park.
