Dunfanaghy ABC’s Bernie McDonagh sweeps his way to Irish title

Dunfanaghy ABC’s Bernie McDonagh was celebrating Irish glory this evening at the National Stadium.

McDonagh overcame Donnacha Sayers from Cashen Vale on a 4-1 split decision to win the Boy 3 44.5kgs crown.

McDonagh, a recently-crowned Ulster champion, showed his worth for more success at the South Circular Road. The Dunfanaghy ace was deserving of a unanimous verdict, but will hardly complain as his hand was held aloft.

In his semi-final last night, McDonagh stopped Oliver Plunketts’ Che Devine in the opening round.
