THE DONEGAL LEAGUE HAVE now confirmed the dates for the remaining games in the Brian McCormick Sports Premier Division.
Drumoghill FC can win the Premier Division for the first time since 1995, almost 21 years to the day from their last triumph.
On Sunday-week, May 8, Michael Lynch’s team will welcome Gweedore Celtic to The Moss with Drumoghill now needing only a point to guarantee the title.
Milford United are six points behind and Noel Gillespie’s team would need to beat both St Catherine’s and Rathmullan Celtic and hope for Drumoghill to lose to both Gweedore and Kildrum Tigers to force a play-off.
Champions elect Drumoghill were last crowned champions of the Donegal League Premier Division on May 12 1995 when Danny McConnell was their manager.
Their game against Gweedore Celtic hadn’t been pencilled in, but last evening the Donegal League confirmed that it would go ahead on Sunday-week.
The final round of fixtures will take place on May 15 – and the battle to avoid the drop is still intense, too.
Cappry Rovers will go down, but it’s still up for grabs elsewhere with Gweedore Celtic and Rathmullan Celtic the teams under real pressure heading into the final pair of games.
