DRUMKEEN CYCLIST Mitchell McLaughlin finished 40th at the weekend in his first race in Belgium, the Westrozebeke Juniors.
The 18-year-old had initially planned to do the race with PCT Tomacc, but was too young to compete with them in the Under-23s as he is still classed as a junior cyclist.
McLaughlin competed in the Junior Tour of Ireland, a six-day tour, with NRPT, and the team finished in second.
He is in Belgium for three weeks of racing and will race twice a week, while also training.
