DONEGAL’S SECOND DR MCKENNA Cup fixture this afternoon against Monaghan in Clones has been postponed.
The decision was made at 2:05pm with a part of the pitch by the old dressing rooms at St Tiernach’s Park still frozen.
The throw-in had been moved from it’s original time of 2pm onto 2:15pm and then 2:30pm in the hope of a thaw.
However, with Donegal warming up at the other end of the field, referee Noel Mooney from Cavan made the decision to postpone the contest in the interest of player safety.
A decision on the re-arranged fixture will be made by the CCC on Monday, with next Sunday being mooted.
Donegal, who opened their campaign with a 2-15 to 0-6 win over Queen’s University on Wednesday last, welcome Fermanagh to Ballybofey on Wednesday night. The Erne County are under the stewardship of former Donegal manager Rory Gallagher.
