This game was over before it had begun as Bonagee United made light work of Gweedore United at Dry Arch Park.
Bonagee United 8 Gweedore United 1
Bonagee were three up by the 16th minute and by the break they were 7-1 ahead.
A fine goal by Senan Cullinane was all that Bonagee could add to their tally, but their night’s work was already done.
Aaron Wasson fired the hosts in front with a well-taken goal after just five minutes and when the unfortunate Sean Doherty put through his own goal ninety seconds later, the signs were ominous.
Jack Clarke hammered in a third for Bonagee and Moran struck again on the half-hour mark as Bonagee were rampant with Wasson turning provider for Clarke’s second.
Moran and Wasson had chances to extend the lead before Gweedore got a goal back.
It was not a moment Bonagee will reflect on with much fondness as Jonathan Coady put past goalkeeper Cian Harkin after taking a quick kick-out from his netminder.
Bonagee made it 5-1, though, when Ryan Moran headed home and Adam Hannaway drilled across goal to get in on the act.
Wasson had Bonagee in seventh heaven by the interval as he slotted home.
And the rout was completed when Cullinane brilliantly riffled home from the right edge of the box on the hour.
