THE DONEGAL WOMEN’S POOL team finished in third in the All-Ireland Pool Championships in Ennis today.
The Donegal team of captain Christine Henderson, Christine Chambers, Rosey McGinty and Helena Sharkey opened up yesterday with a narrow 10-7 defeat against Wexford.
They followed that up with a superb 10-3 win over Mayo and a fine 10-7 success against Wicklow.
This morning, Meath overcame the Donegal women 10-4, with the foursome from Donegal putting up a brave battle throughout.
Defeat meant that the Tir Chonaill girls bowed out, but the results were enough to see them finish in third overall.
McGinty reached the quarter-finals of the women’s singles, winning her first two games 5-0 and 6-0 before losing out in this afternoon’s quarter-finals.
