ACTION IN all divisions of the Donegal Women’s League resumes again tonight with the senior action up and running this week once more.
The senior league took a break during the Leaving Certificate exams, but this week sees the hiatus ending.
Tomorrow night at St Patrick’s Park in Drumkeen, Finn Valley, the League newcomers, take on Bonagee United.
After a heavy 9-0 loss to champions Lagan Harps in their opening game, Finn Valley drew 3-3 with Glenree United in their second outing and Michael Doherty’s team will have regained some of the shot confidence again.
[adrotate group=”37″]Lyndsay McElchar hit two and Aoife Gillespie scored the other in that high-scoring stalemate with Dina Patton and Christina Lawne also central figures for Finn Valley.
Bonagee recorded a fine 4-1 win over Glenree in an encouraging opening game, but they were beaten 3-0 by Lagan at Dry Arch Park in their next fixture, which proved a costly one for Seamy McGinty’s charges,
Chantelle Grant, who had started the season with good promise, left on a stretcher after sustaining a cruciate injury that has ended her campaign.
[adrotate group=”66″]Bonagee put up a big fight against Illies in the WFAI Intermediate Cup, but suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat after extra time, although there was enough about their performance in Inishowen to suggest hope for the Dry Arch brigade going forward.
Lagan have been in good form thus far and on Thursday night they welcome Glenree to Orchard Park.
Amanda Callaghan, Caroline Gallagher, Amy Boyd and Zoe Green have all been showing well for Bríd McGinty’s team and it will take a big attempt by Cathal McGinley’s Glenree to upset the odds.
