Illistrin moved to the top of the Terry Leyden Under-14 League last night on goal difference and things are tight at the summit after this week’s games:
Illistrin FC 8 Bonagee United 0
A very youthful Bonagee team made the short journey to Illistrin on Wednesday evening to play the more experienced Illistrin FC team.
The home team settled quickly and put the Bonagee team under pressure from the start. Â Some great runs from Sinead McBride on the right almost produced some good openings for Illistrin but the Bonagee keeper made some great saves.
Illistrin opened the scoring in the 12th minute when midfielder Aobha Gallagher finished superbly. Â This settled the home team and in the 20th minute Alisha Tobin caught fire as she scored a hat trick before half-time.
The first was a neat finish after good work by Jodie McFadden and the second was from a great cross from Aislinn Coll.
The pick of them was her third, and Illistrin’s fourth, as she turned 25 yards out and fired low to the net.  Aibhe McDaid and Zoe McFadden defended well for Illistrin.
In the second half Bonagee kept battling and Hannah Hopkins made a great run through the heart of the Illistrin defence but pressure from Megan McDaid and a great save from Orla Corry denied the young forward.
[adrotate group=”91″]Illistrin extended their lead when Alisha Tobin added another from a great cross from Marie Rush. Â Bonagee threatened on the break but Orla Gallagher, Leah Afxentiou, and Anusha Baddal defended very well.
Maria Kealy and Jodie McFadden were a constant threat down the left for Illistrin but Eva Harvey and Cliona Patton defended very well.  Another great display of both skill and power was demonstrated by Illistrin’s Sinead McBride as she added to the scoreline as she fired home two goals in two minutes.
The icing on the cake was delivered by Orla Corry who finished in fine style to make the final score 8-0.

Mulroy Academy U14 girls were unlucky leave this game with no points.
They played Finn Valley in what was end-to-end action on a lovely evening in Rabs Park Kerrykeel.
With just over a minute left in the game Finn Valley got the all-important goal when Rebecca McColgan slotted the ball passed the Mulroy keeper Meadbh Duffy, who had an excellent game all evening.
Mulroy still pressed for the equaliser to the final whistle but it wasn’t to be.
