The new Donegal Women’s League is all set to kick off next month with clubs set to begin games at Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 levels in earnest.
The Under-16 League will kick off on Wednesday, April 11. The opening fixtures are: Lagan Harps v Swilly Rovers, Bonagee United v Kilmacrennan Celtic; Mulroy v Raphoe Town; Illistrin v Finn Valley.
The Under-14 League will start on Friday, April 13. The opening night’s U14 games are: Swilly Rovers v Lagan Harps, Raphoe Town v Illistrin, Gweedore Celtic v Gweedore United, Mulroy v Kilmacrennan Celtic, Bonagee United v Finn Valley.
The Under-12 League starts on Monday, April 9 and the opening games are: Kilmacrennan Celtic v Raphoe Town, Glen Rovers v Illistrin, Swilly Rovers v Lagan Harps, Mulroy v Bonagee United, Finn Valley – free.
The Under-8s and Under-10s fixtures will be confirmed in due course. The senior clubs are again set to compete in the North West Women’s Super League, with dates and fixtures yet to be confirmed.
Dublin trip
On April 6, the Donegal Women’s League teams from U9 to Under-16s will go to Dublin to play against the MGL and that evening will take in the Women’s Work Cup qualifier between Republic of Ireland and Slovakia.
Inter-League semi-final
The Donegal Women’s League Under-18s will play Cork on Monday next, March 19, in the Inter-League semi-final.
Friendly games
Clubs are reminded that they are to fill in an FAI ‘Permission To Play’ form before arranging friendly fixtures. Clubs are further reminded that an official referee must be sought in order to play friendly games.
