A battling Donegal Town 2nds side held on for a much deserved victory over Letterkenny 2nds in a Donegal derby.

The fact that Donegal went behind early didn’t seem to rattle the experienced home team.
Some great forward play directed by Hugh Morrow got us back up the field and some quick thinking got the returning Lee Mosely over for a powerful try.
Shortly Aater more quick thinking from a quick tap Lee was over once more.
Letterkenny responded through an unconverted try shortly after to make sure the contest was going to be even throughout.
Momentum swung back and forth but a massive last ditch tackle from Debutant John Ward swung things the way of the home side once more.
Donegal would loose influential centre’s Lee Mosely (calf strain)and Eddie Gallagher (dizziness) to injury.
However it seemed to matter little as the home pack showed all their experience and guile to keep the ball close and momentum the right way.
The second half was more of the same where the game swung back and forth until captain Ciaran Harley crashed over from close range to extend the home side’s lead.
Donegal then chose to maul a line out and made serious yardage with the front row of Kevin McGinty, Keith Anderson and David Classon locking things out it was always going to be hard to stop.
Hugh Morrow then capitalised on some loose defending to get over for Donegal Town’s fourth try of the game.
Young Aaron McGroary had a very successful day from the tee and only miscued one of his kicks.
While Letterkenny tried hard the home team with an estimated average age of 38 played with all the heart and courage that you would associate with rugby players.
It would be very hard to to pick out man of the match but the general opinion throughout was that Hugh Morrow deserved the accolade, very honorable mentions to Cathal Gallagher, John Ward, Rob Hannifin and Kevin McGinty.
