Elsewhere this weekend, Tipperary grabbed a last-gasp draw with Rory Gallagher’s Fermanagh at Semple Stadium.
Liam McGrath landed a 40-metre free to secured a 2-5 to 2-5 draw.
Tipp looked set to win over long spells. They led 1-1 to 0-2 after a poor first half.
Brian Fox netted the opening Tipp goal while Fermanagh levelled the game 12 minutes from the end when Conall Jones netted.
Fox’s second goal seemed to edge it, only for Sean Quigley to fire in a penalty and have Fermanagh in front.
However, McGrath stepped up to secure a dramatic draw ahead of Tipp’s hosting of Donegal in Thurles next Sunday.
At Páirc Uà Chaoimh, Kildare overcame the 43rd minute dismissal of Fergal Conway to defeat Cork 1-10 to 0-10.
Cork scored just once in the final half-an-hour, with Kevin Feely (2), Neil Flynn (2) and Ben McCormick all scoring for Kildare in the same period.
Kildare led 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time with the crucial goal coming from a Feely penalty in the 12th minute following a foul on Jimmy Hyland.
Kildare actually finished with 13 men as Keith Cribbin was black-carded in added-time, when all their replacements had been used.
In Newry, there was a late, late show from Tubridy – David Tubridy’s goal secured a draw for Clare against Armagh.
Tubridy hit 1-7 to rescue the day for the Banner.
Jamie Clarke was sent off in the first half and Armagh finished with 13 as Aaron McKay was given a second yellow card in the dying seconds.
Clare led 1-8 to 1-6 at half-time, with Greg McCabe on target with the Armagh goal and Clare got the rub of the green with an own goal.
It took Tubridy’s goal to earn Clare a 2-10 to 1-13 draw.
