A NEW Donegal GAA Referees’ Administrator is expected to be appointed at the next meeting of the Donegal county committee on Monday January 18.
Bundoran man Pat Walsh has had to vacate the office after completing a five-year term and the Executive is currently seeking nominations from clubs.
Nominations close next week and there are currently two confirmed candidates in the ring to succeed Walsh.
Ardara clubwoman Michelle Bennett, who served as the secretary of the Referees Administration Committee during Walsh’s tenure, has decided to put her name forward. Bennett has also been heavily involved in the Southern Regional Board.
Naomh Colmcille’s Martin McKinley has also confirmed that he is seeking the position. McKinley, father of 2012 All-Ireland winning panel member Thomas, has refereed in the past and has previously expressed an interest in the Administrator’s role.
