THE DONEGAL SPORT HUB TEAM are proud to announce that we have this afternoon hit the one-million mark.
Donegal Sport Hub – made up of Charlie Collins, Alan Foley and Chris McNulty – and in partnership with the Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny, our main sponsors – was launched on July 18 and just two days after its six months in existence, has now accumulated 1,000,000 page views.
“Donegal Sport Hub’s first six months has gone beyond our wildest dreams,” Charlie Collins said. “We’d like to express our gratitude to, first and foremost, our partners – the Radisson Blu Hotel Letterkenny – and everyone who has advertised with us.
“We couldn’t provide the product we do without the assistance of local photographers, the audio and video production teams, web and graphic designers, PRO’s, contributors and freelances.
“Most importantly of all, we have to thank the sporting public of Donegal, and indeed the county’s many sports people who have given so freely and willingly of their time, without which it wouldn’t have been possible to reach this milestone.
“We sincerely hope you enjoy Donegal Sport Hub as much as we have enjoyed bringing you the coverage of sport in Donegal.”

The team derived the concept of a sports website, which would provide not only breaking news, but also video, audio and interactive content.
“Donegal is always said to be something of a unique county and that’s fair to say in a sporting context as well,” Alan Foley said. “It’s a sports-mad county with some of the best competitors on both a local, national and international stage.
“That level of interest and achievement is what we have tried to convey in our work as, with the world the way it is and the way it’s undoubtedly going, sports coverage is now a rolling concept. People deserve to get the most accurate and informative information in a prompt fashion, but also sometimes in a fun and more relaxed way.
“As well as the local, solely-dedicated sports website – the first of its kind in the country – we have introduced platforms on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, YouTube, Soundcloud and Snapchat. The world of media and indeed social media is rapidly evolving and we aim to continue to keep pace with developments.”
Here’s the 158 countries that Donegal Sport Hub have hit since its inception six months ago
From those page views, the website has 225,000 in 158 different countries – but Donegal Sport Hub plans to get bigger and better.
“2016 is a massive year for Donegal sport and we plan to have the best and most comprehensive coverage of all the action,” said Chris McNulty. “Already we have Mark English, Brendan Boyce, Sinead Jennings, Tori Pena and Patsy McGonagle heading to Rio for the Olympic Games and there could be others there, too.
“Seamus Coleman and Shay Given will be part of the Republic of Ireland squad for Euro 2016 in France. Joseph Duffy will hope to continue his quest for a UFC title bout and Jason Quigley aims to keeping climbing the ladder in professional boxing circles at Golden Boy Promotions.
“Finn Harps are back in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland and supporters of Gaelic games are hopeful of another successful year, whether for club or county.
“That’s only the tip of the iceberg and when you consider the county’s reputation in the likes of athletics, boxing and motorsport. We’ll have coverage of everyone from the elite international right to the local sports that are the heartbeats of communties across the county.
“As we go through the year, Donegal Sport Hub plans to cover these events not just on our website but also via our ever-expanding social media platforms, through which we will provide up-to-the-minute and on-the-whistle content.”
Again, thanks a million folks!
