Summer football is set to stay in the Donegal Schoolboys League after clubs voted overwhelmingly in favour of the summer campaign.
Clubs were given until 6 o’clock this evening to convey their feelings on the matter by way of an email vote for one of three options presented at a recent meeting.
At the end of August clubs were given three choices going forward: To immediately go back to a winter, October-May, season; to run a short February-May 2018 season before reverting to a full September-May season; or to run a summer, February-October, season, with a two-month break in July and August.
Seventeen of the 33 Donegal Schoolboys League clubs voted in favour of the summer campaign.
Seven were in favour of the short season before going into a winter season with only three clubs voted for an immediate return to a winter season.
Disappointingly, six clubs did not vote on the matter.
