TWO Donegal men will undertake a gruelling fundraising challenge later this month.
Oisin O’Flaherty and Conor Mulkerns will take on Iron Man on the Ergs on May 31 to raise money for iCare and Whiteoaks. Already, they have raised in excess of €7,000.
The ‘challenge’ takes place at O’Flaherty Fitness ad Performance, beginning at 6am start, and lasting 12-14 hours.
The Iron Man on the Ergs will be done on the rowing and ski machines as well the bike
Oisin and Conor will each take on a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) ski, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) row.
“This is going to be a gruelling challenge,” Oisin said.
“There are so many other fundraisers running at the moment for other brilliant causes, and it’s fantastic to see people are all pulling together at this time.
“We are very aware, and understand the uncertainty and unusual times we are currently in. All donations for our two chosen organisations will be greatly appreciated. Every penny will count.
“Both of these chosen organisations do fantastic work, and year after year have to source funding and rely on donations to help them keep their doors opened. We would like to take a little of that worry off their mind during this current pandemic, by raising as much money as we possibly can.”
If the current restrictions are still in place, the machines will be set up the appropriate distance apart. In the event that the restrictions are eased, the shutter door will be open for people to call and watch part of the challenge.
