Coláiste na Carraige and Coláiste Cholmcille clash in the Danske Bank Markey Cup final on Friday with the game now confirmed for Bawnacre in Irvinestown (12.30pm).
The game had originally been pencilled in for Tuesday at MacCumhaill Park, but the Ballybofey surface was deemed unplayable and the game was refixed for tomorrow.
Given that Donegal are set to host Tyrone in the Allianz League in a couple of weeks time so the decision has been made to move the all-Donegal decider to the Fermanagh venue.
It is only the second time that the Markey Cup final will be contested by two Donegal schools.
Two years ago, Coláiste na Carraige defeated St Columba’s of Glenties in the final and the class of now can call upon survivors from that side like Lanty Molloy, Brian O’Donnell and Aaron Doherty.
All three are members of the 2017 Donegal Minor panel and are joined by Shane Gillespie and Fionn Gallagher
Coláiste na Carraige have had a superb record of reaching Ulster finals in the last decade or so and a St Valentine’s Day win over St Patrick’s of Keady clinched the place in this year’s Markey final.
Doherty’s point in added time gave them a 1-6 to 0-8 win.
The south-west Donegal nursery had led much of the way thanks to Shane Gillespie’s goal in the first half, but St Patrick’s came roaring back in the second half.
This is new territory for Coláiste Cholmcille, though.
A few days before Coláiste na Carraige reached the final, the Ballyshannon representation booked a ticket to their first Markey decider via a 1-16 to 1-12 win over St Joseph’s from Donaghmore.
After leading 0-10 to 0-6 at half-time, Coláiste Cholmcille got a goal from Matthew McClay and they held on after Donaghmore mounted a comeback.
