A Donegal man has been appointed to referee next month’s FAI Senior Cup final.
Burnfoot man Paul McLaughlin will take charge of the November 5th final between Cork City and Dundalk at Aviva Stadium.
McLaughlin, a Garda based in County Louth, has taken charge of several high profile games and in 2015 was named as the Referee of the Year at the PFAI Awards. He has been officiating in the League of Ireland since 2008.
McLaughlin was the fourth official for the 2014 FAI Cup final, but will now take charge of the decider.
McLaughlin, originally from the Aileach club, holds a FIFA badge and has been involved in games at Champions League and international level.
Earlier this year, he took charge of a friendly between Liverpool and Bilbao before 51,333 fans at the Aviva.
