Keadue came out on top at home on Sunday with a comprehensive scoreline after a very good display. The game was played in atrocious conditions with driving rain and gale force winds.
With the wind behind them, the home side had a good start and after Aidan McHugh was fouled in the box after five minutes, captain Chris Greene stepped up to dispatch the penalty to give Keadue the lead.
After a period of sustained pressure, the hosts went 2-0 up when Danny McGlynn ran on to a through ball from Hugh Moy and tucked it well past the keeper from 10-yards. Aidan McHugh was again close on twenty-five minutes with the away keeper saving well from his shot.
Keadue were very dominant at this point and made it 3-0 on 28 minutes when, following a defensive mix up, Aidan McHugh poked the ball home on the left side from a tricky angle.
After 33 minutes, the home side made it 4-0 when keeper Danny Rodgers long kick found Shaun Yank Boyle and despite his first effort being saved, he knocked in the rebound.
St. Catherine’s battled away towards the end of the first half, getting a bit more of the ball but the home team were very comfortable, moving the ball around well and ought to have been further ahead. Into the second half and with the wind behind them St. Catherine’s had more of the ball and the game evened out.
On 52 minutes they had a good effort on goal when Christy Cunningham’s shot from long range was well saved by Danny Rodgers. A few substitutions followed for Keadue and on sixty minutes, substitute Adam Neely’s left-handed cross was met at the near post but just stabbed wide by Shaun Yank Boyle.
However, on 65 minutes, following good work down the right wing by Hugh Moy, Shaun Yank Boyle hit a rasping effort into the top of the net to make it 5-0.
A few more substitutions followed by both sides and it was fairly scrappy in the final twenty with St. Catherine’s giving it their all and Keadue happy to hit on the break with plenty of pace going forward.

A last-gasp equaliser from former Lagan schoolboy Conor Mulhern earned Lifford a point in this thrilling encounter. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze Lifford opened the scoring on twenty minutes, Paul Lynch firing home a free from 25 minutes.
In the 67th minute, the first lapse in concentration from the backline of Glenree led to them conceding after a cross into the box that Kevin Loughrey ran onto to head into the bottom corner to give his side the lead.
The goal gave the away side great heart and for the first period in the game they were in control creating a few half chances but couldn’t beat Oran Blaney who did well on numerous occasions to keep it at one nil.
The home side fought hard to try to get an equaliser and Kelly pulled off the save of the day from a John Mc Clafferty header that looked destined for the back of the net but he somehow kept it out in the 87th minute.
The game ended with Whitestrand leaving Glenree Park with the all important points.
Raphoe started the game well going one up after four minutes when DJ Kelly volleyed home an Oliver Quinn cross. Kerrykeel got back on terms in the 10th minute from a corner.
Deele entertained an in-form Barrow side but it was the home side who took all three points. The hosts have been digging out results in recent weeks following an opening day disaster.
