The Donegal League will refer to its disciplinary committee a bizarre game from the Donegal Saturday League that ended prematurely when one team was left with just SIX players.
The Glencar Celtic v Glenea United Reserves game in the Glencarr Inn Saturday League was abandoned after 30 minutes.
Glenea United Reserves had only been able to start with seven players due to a severe shortage, owing to a clash with Cloughaneely’s games in the Intermediate and Intermediate B Championships in Letterkenny.
When one of their number had to come off injured on the half-hour and was unable to continue, referee Tony McNamee abandoned the fixture.
Glenea were actually leading at the time of the abandonment following an own goal in the 13th minute.
The League will await Mr McNamee’s report and will refer the matter to its disciplinary committee, the fixtures secretary, Christina O’Donnell, confirmed.
