THE EXECUTIVE of the Donegal Junior Football League will meet on Monday night to outline a structure of the new season.
Two clubs that will not be taking part in the 2015/16 campaign are Dunlewey Celtic and Tullyvinney Rovers, with neither having applied to join the league. Cranford United will not be fielding a reserve side this season, although the club’s first team will feature in the Watson Hire Division 1.
“It’s disappointing to not have Drunlewey and Tullyvinney for next season,” said Donegal League PRO Gary Foy. “They were two good clubs from well-established area for football.”
Drumkeen United will be part of the new-look Saturday leagues, with one division made up of stand alone clubs and the other of reserve teams of Donegal League clubs who also have teams lining out on Sundays.
The division of stand-alone clubs will contain Arranmore United, Drumbar United, Drumkeen United, Fintown Harps, Glencar Celtic, Mulroy Celtic, Orchard United, Ramelton Mariners and Strand Rovers
The reserve league has 12 teams – Cappry Rovers, Castlefin Celtic, Curragh Athletic, Donegal Town, Drumoghill FC, Erne Wanderers, Glenea United, Glenree United, Keadue Rovers, Kildrum Tigers, Milford United and St Catherine’s.
The Donegal League season has traditionally got underway with the Area competitions of the Brian McCormick Sports Cup in mid-August.
