Kilmacrennan’s draw at home to Kildrum Tigers, Glenn Bovaird and Ryan Shields getting the goals in that game, gave Castlefin the incentive they have been waiting for and they took it emphatically as they breezed past fifth place Cappry Rovers.
Castlefin took the lead in the 27th minute when a cross into the goalmouth from JP Malley was directed into the net by Cappry defender Darren Mc Gowan.
Castlefin went in search of another goal but it was Cappry who should have levelled the score on numerous occasions only for good goalkeeping and defending by the visitors.
In the second half, Cappry had a few chances to level the match but were unlucky when the ball hit the post and the keeper made a few good saves.
Castlefin scored their second goal in the 62nd minute when Raymond Foy was fouled and Emmet White scored from the spot.
Cappry, brave with their attacks, kept pushing for a goal but were caught on the break in the 76th minute when Foy chased down the ball to beat the keeper from close range.
Castlefin got their fourth goal in the 87th minute when Foy beat the Cappry keeper to put the ball through to Corey Bogan who scored from close range.
