MICHAEL NAUGHTON’S return as the Donegal Ladies manager got off to a winning start this afternoon with an away win at Westmeath in Lidl NFL Division 2.
Westmeath 0-08 Donegal 3-04
Donegal battled late to earn the win with three goals in the final ten minutes.
An Amber Barrett goal – the first of two by the Milford woman – turned the tide in their favour after Westmeath had led 0-7 to 0-2 at half time.
Donegal made use of the elements in the second half and came back to draw level with Eilish Ward firing over after BArrett goaled.
Donegal’s defence turned over the play. Geraldine McLaughlin lobbed into the danger zone, McMonagle flicked on and Barrett applied the finish.
Yvonne McMonagle fired home Donegal’s second goal and, in added time, Barrett converted a penalty following a foul on Niamh Hegarty.
