TWO YOUNG DONEGAL golfers will this week take part in the 2016 US Kids Golf European Championships in Scotland.
Conor Hanna, a 12-year-old from Creeslough, and 11-year-old Letterkenny lad James Sweeney – both players at Dunfanaghy Golf Club – will take to the tee box at Craigielaw GC in East Lothian.
The Championships run from tomorrow, May 31, until Thursday, June 2.
Hanna and Sweeney work under Dunfanaghy GC professional and PGA instructor Seamus McMonagle.
Hanna, who plays off a handicap of 16, won the qualifier in Portmarnock GC two weeks ago by 8 shots and will compete in the under 12 section.

“The course will be set up with narrow fairways, long heavy rough and has over 120 bunkers!” McMonagle told Donegal Sport Hub.
“Last year the boys got stuck in a few bunkers and deep rough, so in the past year we’ve been working very hard on developing their skills to succeed in these areas of the course.

In 2015, over 600 players from 46 nations competed in Europe’s premier junior golf tournament.
