BALLYLIFFIN’S GLASHEDY IS the top-ranking Donegal golf course on the latest charts released by the ‘Top 100 Golf Courses’ this week.
The Inishowen course (pictured above) is designed by Tom Craddock and Pat Ruddy. It’s ranked at eighth in the ‘Top 100 courses in the Republic of Ireland’ – that’s up one place from the last release in 2013. The list is compiled every two years.
Rosapenna’s Sandy Hills is 11th overall, no change from two years ago, while Donegal Golf Course is up two to 17 and Ballyliffin’s old course up two to 18.
Portsalon is also on the rise, in its case up one to 25, while Narin & Portnoo is down on to 35.
Rosapenna’s Old Tom Morris is now 38th, up one place. And there are two Donegal new entries to the top 100 – North West is 95th with Dunfanaghy 99th.
The top five remain the same, with the old courses at Ballybunion, Lahinch and Portmarnock still occupying first, second and third respectively, while Waterville is fourth and the European Course fifth.
