DONEGAL GAA is set to announce a partnership with Letterkenny Institute of Technology, which will see county teams avail of the facilities at the Port Road campus.
The news was confirmed by the Donegal County Chairman, Sean Dunnion, in his address to this afternoon’s annual County Convention in the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny.
In 2014 and 2015, Declan Bonner’s Donegal Minor teams used the facilities and expertise at LyIT.
Of late, Donegal football and hurling teams have been assisted by students at LyIT in the areas of strength and conditioning, fitness testing and nutrition.
“A memorandum of agreement will be put in place that will see Donegal GAA and LyIT work closely as we have identified a number of linkages and services that will be made available to county underage and development squads,” Dunnion told Convention.
“We have a tremendous asset in LyIt on our doorstep and we look forward to this relationship getting a more formal footing now.”
