IT’S SIX YEARS now since Donegal entered All-Ireland qualifiers at the first round stage.
That was when John Joe Doherty’s side went down 2-14 to 0-11 against Armagh in Crossmaglen in 2010. Since then Donegal have appeared in five successive Ulster finals, winning in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
[adrotate group=”53″]In the two years the lost Ulster finals – both against Monaghan in 2013 and 2015 – Donegal won their fourth round qualifiers against Laois and Galway respectively.
This Sunday, Donegal open their Ulster SFC with a quarter-final against Fermanagh. And following this morning’s draw for the opening round of the qualifiers the losers of that particular tie will take on Wexford in Round 1B of the qualifiers.
[adrotate group=”37″]Donegal gave never faced Wexford in the championship, while the winners of the Donegal v Fermanagh tie will take on Monaghan in the Ulster SFC semi-final on Saturday June 25 at Breffni Park in Cavan. The clash will be proceeded by the minor semi-final between Monaghan and Shaun Paul Barrett’s Donegal.
