TWO DONEGAL players are included in the Republic of Ireland Women’s U17 squad for a double-header against Belgium.
Ireland, under the direction of new head coach James Scott, flew out to Belgium yesterday ahead of games on Sunday and Wednesday.
Sea Rovers’ Erin Fildara – who also plays for Culdaff in the North West Women’s Super League – and Kerryanne Brown, a Greencastle native who is with Sion Swifts, are among the new-look Irish squad.
The games take place at the Belgium Football Center, with the first game on Sunday kicking off at 2pm.
“Belgium will be an excellent test for the squad ahead of the first phase qualifiers in Lithuania,” Scott said.
“We have seven players who have been called up for the first time so this will provide an excellent experience for them.
“We have players from a broad range of clubs, all throughout the country, and that reflects the top-class work that is being done in women’s football at the moment.”
