DONEGAL have taken an appeal against Neil McGee’s suspension to the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee (CAC).
The full-back missed last night’s drawn Ulster semi-final against Monaghan after a two-game ban was upheld by the Central Hearings Committee last Tuesday night in Croke Park.
Donegal remain hopeful of having McGee cleared, however.
Donegal have kept their counsel on the matter in public, but have vigorously contested the suspension.
The CHC upheld the decision last week, but on Friday morning last Donegal lodged a further appeal with the CAC.
[adrotate group=”43″]McGee was sent off late in the first half of Donegal’s win over Fermanagh earlier this month.
Having been given a retrospective suspension after being cited for an incident in the Allianz Football League game against Kerry, McGee was handed a two-game suspension.
It is expected that an appeal hearing will be held this week, prior to the weekend’s replay against Monaghan.
[adrotate group=”53″]Saturday’s draw in Cavan was the first time in a 52-game streak spanning 11 years that Donegal lined out without the Gaoth Dobhair man in Championship football.
Were the appeal to the CAC unsuccessful, Donegal would still have the option of going to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
