DONAL O’Brien, the Ulster Senior League’s inter-provincial manager, has appointed Peter Moran and Jason Gibson to his backroom team.
O’Brien, the former Cockhill Celtic manager, was confirmed as the team’s manager last week and he has turned to Bonagee United boss Moran and Swilly Rovers manager Gibson to assist him.
The USL have won the Michael Ward Trophy in each of the last two years (last year’s squad is pictured above).
This year’s competition will be staged in Leinster.
In 2013, Garbhan Friel netted the winner in a 1-0 win over Munster Senior League in Sligo after they drew 0-0 with Leinster and hammered Connacht 9-0.
The competition was held in Donegal last year and the USL again prevailed. Wins over Leinster and Connacht had the title sealed before an understrength team lost 3-0 to Munster on the final day of action.
They defeated Connacht 5-3 while Jimmy Bradley’s late goal secured a 2-1 win against Leinster.
This year’s competition runs from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th of October.
