DONAGH Kelly was third in today’s Corrib Oil Galway International Rally.
Kelly was edged by Alastair Fisher and Sam Moffett to the first two places on the podium.
Fisher won in a VW Polo GTI R5 with Kelly third in another VW Polo.
The rally opened the 2020 Irish Tarmac Championship and winner Fisher is the favourite to land this year’s title.
Fisher was runner-up last year, but was 21.1 seconds in front of Moffett, in a Hyundai i20 to emulate his uncle, the late Bertie Fisher who won this event in 1996 and 1999.
Kelly was pipped to second place by Moffett, with only 1.7 seconds between them at the finish
Moffett won three of the last four stages to take second. .
