AODH RUADH CONTINUED their faultless start to their AllSportsStore.com All-County League Division 3 campaign today with Gaeil Fhánada, Buncrana and Naomh Bríd scoring impressive wins.
Aodh Ruadh made it three-from-three thanks to a 3-17 to 0-12 win over Downings.
The convincing 14-point victory keeps the Ballyshannon men joint top with Buncrana, but the Ernesiders have played a game less.
An early David McGurrin goal sent them on their way and they led by five points, 1-8 to 0-6, at half-time.
Gary McClafferty kept Downings in touch, but with Johnny Gethins, Seamus Kane and David Dolan on the mark it was Aodh Ruadh who parted much the happier of the two sides.
Ryan McKenna scored the opening point of part two and while Downings stayed in touch briefly, Aodh Ruadh knocked the stuffing from them when they hit 2-3 to kill the game.
Kane made no mistake with a classy finish and added his second goal when he fisted home from close range.
Eamon McGrath, Niall Harley, McKenna, McGurrin, Kane, Damian Cleary and Philip Patton all registered points with ten Aodh Ruadh players managing to score over the hour.
Gael Fhánada hit four goals in a 4-6 to 0-10 win over Naomh Ultan.
In a first half of few opportunities, Gaeil Fhánada led 1-3 to 0-3 with Jimmy Coyle netting the goal.
Gaeil Fhánada netted three second-half goald through Joe Blaney, Niall Carr and Oisin McFadden, while Seamus ‘Nanny’ Friel helped himself to four points.
Dermot Gallier, Alan Lyons and Aiden Duddy each scored two points for Naomh Ultan, but the goals were key for the Portsalon men.
Early goals by William McLaughlin and Oisin O’Flaherty laid the foundations for Buncrana to defeat Naomh Colmcille 2-15 to 0-12 at The Scarvey.
Buncrana led 2-6 to 0-4 at the break and Naomh Colmcille’s poor run continues with another defeat, meaning Francie Martin’s men – Intermediate finalists last year – are still without a win from their opening four games.
With Odhrán Doherty and Oisin Doherty on song, Buncrana were never in danger.
Daniel Clarke (0-5) and Joe Donaghy (0-3) were the pick of the scorers for Naomh Colmcille, but they couldn’t get close enough to mount a challenge.
First-half goals were also the big scores as Naomh Bríd moved through the gears for a 2-10 to 0-4 win over Urris.
Pauric McDaid from a penalty and Shane Walsh netted for Naomh Bríd, who led 2-2 to 0-3 at half-time.
Walsh ended with 1-3 to his name and was the game’s top marksman, with eight different players on the mark for the home side.
