THE FALL-OUT FROM last Wednesday’s EirGrid Ulster Under-21 semi-final has seen Donegal Under-21 manager Declan Bonner suspended for 24 weeks.
Both Donegal and Tyrone have also been handed fines of €2,000 by the Ulster Competitions Control Committee because of an after-match brawl after Tyrone’s 1-15 to 2-8 win last Wednesday week at Celtic Park in Derry.
It is understood that Bonner’s ban is in relation to ‘abuse of the referee’ who was Barry Cassidy from Derry, who sent off Donegal’s Stephen McMenamin for two yellow cards and Bruce Waldron for a yellow and black.
Donegal were 0-6 to 0-4 up at half-time against the reigning All-Ireland champions before Tyrone got the better of the 13 men to run out three point-winners. Monaghan usurped Tyrone as Ulster champions last night with a 0-13 to 0-11 victory at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.
