The Donegal senior football manager, Declan Bonner has moved to address suggestions that Donegal boycotted a GAA media event in Galway as a form of protest.
The GAA held a launch of the All-Ireland football and hurling Championships in Inis Mór today.
Representatives from the other three provincial football championship winners were in attendance, but no-one from Donegal traveled.
It sparked a notion from GAA chiefs that Donegal had snubbed the event as a reaction to their dissatisfaction about the venues for the Super 8 series with Dublin having two games at Croke Park in their group.
However, Bonner dismissed the notion at a press conference in Ballybofey, which was also attended by players Frank McGlynn and Eamonn Doherty.
“The only reason there is no player there is that we’re training this evening,” Bonner said.
“If it was any other day they’d have been there, no issue. We have our training programme set out and we felt it wasn’t right to drop someone out of that to do a media launch, five days ahead of a very important match.”
