FINN HARPS have confirmed that Keith Cowan has agreed a new one-year deal at Finn Park for 2016.
Cowan is in his second spell at Harps, with his first having been ended by a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The Ramelton native was a mainstay in the side last year during the promotion-winning campaign and his signing brings to 13 the number of players confirmed for 2016.
Cowan has been in talks with the club for a number of weeks, but the parties have now agreed terms and the Colaiste Ailigh teacher will commence pre-season training tomorrow night in the Aura Centre.
“Keith was part of a defensive unit performed admirably last season so I am pleased he has committed for the forthcoming season,” Ollie Horgan, the Harps manager, told the club’s official website.
“Our defence will be up against a different class of opposition in the Premier so that is a challenge any senior player will relish.
We are slowly but surely getting there with our squad and we are hoping to make further announcements in the coming days and weeks.”
Cowan made his Harps debut in 2005, but his early promise was knocked back with the cruciate injury – and he suffered the same agony within six months of his comeback.
Cowan left Harps, but got back into the game with Swilly Rovers.
At the time, he was studying in Cardiff and playing for the university team.
Christian Edwards, the ex-Nottingham Forest and Swansea City defender, was managing the college team and was the manager at Aberystwyth Town at the time.
Edwards invited Cowan to sign the following season at Aberystwyth, but he had his mind set by then on returning home and has been at Harps since coming back.
